CHIEF OF DEFENCE FORCE NG CHEE MENG RETIRES FROM THE SAF

Defence Minister Ng Eng Hen announced on Facebook that Lieutenant-General Ng Chee Meng will retire from the Singapore Armed Forces on Aug 18. He will be replaced by current Chief of Army, Major-General Perry Lim. The sudden retirement prompted speculation the LG Ng Chee Meng might be running in the upcoming General Election.

SG Chief of Defence Force: We Can 1 Shot, 1 Kill Our Enemies

Speaking to the media yesterday (1 Jul), Chief of Defence Force Lieutenant-General (LG) Ng Chee Meng said Singapore’s 3rd generation military is progressing well, and is at an “advanced stage”. LG Ng said SAF is now in a position of strength. “Today, we can bring lethal firepower at a very short time to hit moving targets – one shot, one kill,” said LG Ng. “This is a capability that few armed forces in the world possess, and we have the capabilities to ensure that we fulfil our mission to protect Singapore.”

CDF LT GENERAL NG CHEE MENG WAYANG BY COMPLETING 32KM ROUTE MARCH WITH NSFs

Singapore's eighth Chief of Defence Force may be the top man in the country's military, but that did not stop him from lugging 20kg of combat gear on a 32km route march among junior comrades less than half his age. Lieutenant-General Ng Chee Meng volunteered for the army combat skills course last year, taking part alongside 20-year-old trainees. He also completed a two-week naval diving course. An ace pilot more comfortable within the confines of the fighter jet, he said he wanted to understand the "way of life" in the army and navy.
