ICA NEEDS TO SPEED UP CAUSEWAY CLEARANCE & STOP GIVING LAME EXCUSES

I have been very upset with what is happening at the Causeway as I go in 2 times a week. The latest reply on this clearly unsatisfactory. I don’t buy their explanation and am convinced that they deliberated want to slow it down. My experience ever since the toll was raised was that they have. I am very disappointed with how the Causeway is run.

TRANSPORT MINISTRY: MALAYSIA’S VEP TAX DISCRIMINATES AGAINST S’POREANS

The Ministry of Transport (MOT) issued a statement today to condemn Malaysia's latest decision to impose entry fees of RM20 ($7.16) for foreign-registered vehicles travelling to Johor. The fee will kick in 1st October. Singaporeans who wish to travel by private transport to Johor would also have to register online before 1st September or they may be denied entry to Malaysia. MOT said it is requesting more more information from Malaysian authorities on their new requirement for Singapore vehicles to pre-register before entering Malaysia.

S’POREAN VEHICLES MUST REGISTER & PAY RM20 TO ENTER MALAYSIA FROM 1 SEP

Singaporeans entering Malaysia via their own private vehicles must register with the Malaysian Road Transport Department (RTD) or they will not be allowed to enter the neighboring country. The rules take effect from 1st September this year and will be applied to all private cars, buses, taxis, goods vehicles as well as diplomatic cars, according to The Star.

MALAYSIAN OFFICIAL CALLS S’PORE’S MATCHING INCREASE OF CAUSEWAY TOLL HIKE UNJUSTIFIED

Malaysia officials want to meet their Singapore counterparts to get the city-state to reconsider its decision to increase checkpoint toll fees at the Causeway, according to the local media. Singapore’s reason for the toll hike was “unjustified”, Malaysia’s Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Wee Ka Siong was quoted as saying in a report in The Star Online on Friday (Sep 19). He said that a meeting between Malaysia and Singapore officials would take place “as soon as possible”, for Malaysia to find out the reason for the increased toll charges at the Sultan Iskandar Customs, Immigration and Quarantine (CIQ) Complex.

At one stroke of the pen, the Malaysian government has managed to reduce dramatically the perennial traffic congestion on the Causeway, the blight of cross-border travelers for the last 40 odd years. This is miraculous indeed. The icing on the cake is that even with a spectacular fall in traffic volume, the Malaysian government is still raking in more revenue.
