SAF Captain Charged In The Death Of NSF Dies Of Cancer, Weeks After Discharge Was Granted To Him

News of Tan's cancer diagnosis was first leaked to the press by the late SAF CFC Dave Lee's mum, who said she has forgiven Captain Tan for his role in her son's death, even saying that she felt sad for Captain Tan and his family. On 5th February, it was reported in the papers that the AGC had given Tan a discharge not amounting to an acquittal, which meant that the charges can be revived again at a later date

S'PORE BOAT CAPTAIN REUNITED WITH FAMILY AFTER 1.5 YRS DETENTION IN INDONESIA

Boat captain Mr Shoo Chiau Huat has finally returned to Singapore after being detained in Indonesia for illegal fishing. He experienced jail, paying fines and "house arrest" before the court dismissed his illegal sailing charge in May. Altogether, he spent close to 1.5 years away from home and is happy to be reunited with his family once more.

I'm one of the victims onboard of the disastrous ferry. When the accident happened, the captain had no idea what to do. I was informed there were 2 RSAF ship awaiting at the boarder of the water line dividing Indonesia and Singapore. All the captain of the ferry needed to do was to just fire the SOS flare and they will come over to rescue. I confronted the captain and asked him why won't he fire the flare. All he said to me in melayu was: "cannot, I don't want and I don't know!" Is that acceptable? And the captain cockpit was found full of alcohol stench and the captain actually vomited.
