Even though two months have passed since GE2020, the Singapore Democratic Party (SDP) Chief Dr Chee Soon Juan has continued to walk the ground. He has been meeting Bukit Batok residents and listening to their concerns around the constituency. It is embarrassing how Chee Soon Juan is more in touch with the issues around Bukit Batok than some part-time MP who claimed he will "always prioritise" his residents.

The 158th media has made no effort to hide their bias against the opposition by leaving out faces of opposition candidates in their Nomination Day Live Coverage. 158 did not bother to find photos of opposition candidates and just showed them as blanks while all the PAP candidates' faces were shown. What is their excuse for not being able to get a photo of the prominent Paul Tambyah who is going to be president of the International Society of Infectious Diseases?

It has been almost half a year since the Bukit-Batok by-election. During that time, we had a contest of two very contrasting candidates with PAP’s Murali saying that he is his own man even though his walkabout and campaign speeches was backed by several Ministers.

President Tony Tan has issued the writ of election for the Bukit Batok by-election to be held on 7 May 2016. Nomination day will be on 27 April 2016 at Keming Primary School. SDP's Dr Chee Soon Juan has declared his intentions to contest in Bukit Batok SMC and has been working the ground for weeks. Dr Chee will be up against PAP's Murali Pillai, a lawyer from Rajah and Tan.

Reform Party believes that Dr Chee will be a formidable opponent and represents the strongest opportunity for putting an alternative party’s voice into parliament. We note that conditions are particularly in favour of an opposition win: this is a by-election for an SMC and therefore the voters will not be afraid of upsetting the balance of the overwhelming PAP majority, there is likely to be a rebound from the PAP’s record share of the vote in GE2015 and Dr Chee’s personal story of resilience will resonate with the voters and indeed he has been warmly received on the ground so far.

During a walkabout in Bukit Batok SMC this morning (20 March 2016), Dr Chee and his team of SDP warriors announced that Dr Chee Soon Juan will be the SDP candidate for Bukit Batok by-election.

According to Zaobao, the woman that had an affair with David Ong is one Wendy Lim, 41, a logistics senior executive and also a Bukit Batok PAP branch activist. For the past year, Wendy had been regularly uploading many photos of her activities in PAP Bukit Batok, including several with David Ong.

I do not care why David Ong resigned, I do not want to know why he resign. For all we know, he has come down with serious illness and all he wants now is peace and quiet to recuperate. Speculation of such is pointless, it is smarter to think forward. This time is ripe and the opportunity has come. I think it is time for Dr Chee Soon Juan to return to Parliament. Dr Chee's fiery performances during GE2015 has given the 30 percent of Singaporeans hope that one day we will have a multi-party Government. This is the time for Dr Chee to prove his mantle and put his words into actions.
