About 50 households in Dover Road are being forced out of their interim housing by the Housing & Development Board even though their Build-To-Order (BTO) flats are not ready yet.

The lowest priced 5-room flat in Toa Payoh at $544,000 against the lowest transacted resale price at $500,000 gives a “subsidy” of -9 per cent ($544,000 divided by $500,000). In other words, the BTO price is 9 per cent more than the resale transacted price. So the “subsidy” may in a sense have become an extra “premium”.

Residents who have just received their keys to their spanking new Build-To-Order (BTO) Housing Development Board (HDB) flats at Punggol Waterway Terraces 1, Block 308A, were in for a huge shock yesterday.
