Cyclists At Punggol Are Dangerous Obstructions To Drivers

I live in Punggol and I frequent the Seletar North link to commute to Yishun. On numerous occasions, I have encountered cyclist riding along that road to Marina Country club, passing by Safra, all the way to Kadaloor. I feel they are such a dangerous obstruction to drivers. Especially now that there are more BTOs around Northshore drive, more vehicles are using the Seletar North link.

NOT SAFE TO LIVE IN NEW GEYLANG FLATS, THEY’RE LIKE SLUMS OF SUSPICIOUS PEOPLE

Our reader warned against living in the new Geylang BTO flats as the area still sees suspicious characters loitering around. He claims that his neighbour's daughter was molested in the vicinity. He thinks the area is not safe for families and expects it to become yet another slum. "I wonder why the government doesn't know about this 2-room and 3-room flat problem. Why not mix it up? Why create slums? If got ethnic quota why don't have an income quota where a flat have all kinds of flats that cater to different stratas?"

GOVT WANT MORE PEOPLE TO BUY BTO FLATS IN YISHUN

So, the government is trying to encourage young people to move into the slum town of Yishun, is it? Is it because they are scared the slum name given to Yishun is catching on online and offline, that;s why must push first time home owners to actually buy the houses there? Even the Minister for National Development himself, Mr Lawrence Wong, has been deployed to hard sell Yishun BTOs to those buyers. The government also scared the buyers will opt for the mature estates of Geylang and Bidadari instead, which are also released in this exercise. This might mean the take up rate for Yishun and Woodlands will be even lower.

UNPRECEDENTED HIGH NUMBER OF BALANCE FLATS OFFERED BY HDB

Interesting to note that among the mature estates close to the city centre, Queenstown offered with 523 sale of balance units, and Kallang/Whampoa have 263 units. These numbers are staggering, as they are quite comparable to sales of the BTOs themselves. The question is, why are there so many SBF units still available, and the numbers quite high in mature estates. Typically, units in mature estates are snapped up quite fast. Is it because the prices are getting too high for young families to actually purchase a house? The original aim of the HDB was to provide a roof for all families in Singapore with affordable housing. How then can a BTO costing $300k at least is called affordable? When the $300k for the BTO is only for a three room flat?

BF CLAIMS GF HAVE ROUNDED FIGURE, AND HAVE NEGATIVE FEELINGS, BUT BTO ALREADY BOOKED

I have a bf of 3.5 years, already applied for BTO and even signed for a wedding photography package. Recently he told me about his feelings about how he felt a negative feeling whenever he sees my figure or going out with me. It's true that I'm more rounded than him and it didn't help that he has a slim body shape. Somehow he felt that we are incompatible because of that. However, we had a lot of laughter when we were together but it all doesn't seem to matter as much as my figure. He told me that he felt that he is in his prime (meaning he can still attract the opposite sex?) and that he still has a lot of attraction for the physical. We haven't had much intimacy for the last few months and he said he no longer felt the "passion" as much as that first two years. We quarreled a lot when we were together the first two years but at the third year when things settled down and we were beginning to enjoy the stable times together, he told me he can't feel the passion anymore. He actually prefers the ups and downs of the first two years. I don't understand why love has to be difficult. I thought love is supposed to be easy. My love for him grew the more stable we get but he told me that he felt very comfortable with me now that we are stable and I felt like family. I don't know if feeling like family is a good or bad thing.

BTO FLATS READY EARLIER, NO SIGNIFICANT PRICE INCREASE

HDB has already announced that from next year onwards, couples can pick from 1,000 BTOs that will be ready much earlier. The waiting time for these flats in non-mature estates will be 21/2 years compared with the current waiting time of three to four years. But the main clincher is that when HDB assured that would-be buyers would not have to pay significantly higher prices for the shorter waiting time. Very smart of HDB though, they said significantly higer prices. So, that means, price can still go up, although not significantly.

CHILDCARE NOW PRE-PLANNED, IN THE PAST, IT WAS HOPE AND PRAY FOR SPACE

Finally, in the year 2017, the government is pre-planning for bigger child care centres in new BTOs. The fact that government encouraging more couples to have babies, but no planning done to cater to needs of placing these young children in childcare centres once the parents go back to work shows how in touch the government is to ordinary citizens. A former senior Director for strategic planning at the Ministry of National Development can even say that previous years, if there's an empty void deck space, then they use it to build childcare centre. Now they are going to be pre-designing it. Stand up and clap? What kind of strategic planning is this?
