MAN DIED WHILE PARTICIPATING IN THE SINGAPORE INTERNATIONAL TRIATHLON

It was believed he ran into trouble before 10 am, where he was competing in the standard distance relay event, where a trio would each take part in a part of the race. He was in the 1.5 km swim part of the race, where he was pulled out of the waters to shore, with emergency medical personnel administered CPR on him. He was later evacuated to SGH, where he sadly died.

CABBY JAILED FOR TAKING HEADPHONES LEFT BEHIND BY PASSENGER

Lai Kim Fah, 59, admitted to misappropriating the headphones that he found in the back seat of his taxi last year (2016) on Sept 19. The headphones, which were valued at $699, belonged to Ms Sarah Safa Sherry, 31. Investigations showed that Lai found the headphones when he was handing over his taxi to another driver at the end of his shift, and later gave it to his daughter. He then admitted to taking the headphones when police questioned him. The daughter had sold the headphones on Carousell, but managed to get it back after refunding the money back to the buyer. The headphones were handed over to the police.

FRENCHMAN JAILED FOR SMASHING GLASS ON MAN’S HEAD

Franck Louis Maurice Peltier, 51, pleaded guilty to causing hurt to Mr Chapman at the Employees Only pub in Amoy Street at around 12.20am on Dec 22 last year. Peltier used to work for financial data management company Asset Control. Based on reports, he was made redundant at the company in January this year. Peltier was also accused of outraging the modesty of a woman at the same nighspot just 20 minutes before he smashed the glass on the victim.
