LEE KUAN YEW: IF THINGS DON’T WORK, I WILL SACK THE CHIEF

During his 1984 National Day Rally speech, Lee Kuan Yew had this to say about getting things done in Singapore and what should be done when things don't work. Do you agree with Lee Kuan Yew's style of working? How long has it been since Singapore fired a chief for underperforming? Will Singapore's transportation woes ever be solved if heads don't roll?

SMRT GROUND STAFF ARE DOING THEIR BEST, DO NOT ABUSE THEM

We were having family dinner when my dad received notification that he is activated. Without further ado, he put down his dinner and report within 30 minutes to the assigned station. He did not grumble about how he had to work again. So, before we throw our frustrations and ill mannerism to any of the ground staff, please remember that they are just doing their best to get lives moving. They apologized on behalf of SMRT, not themselves. And most importantly, they have families waiting for them back home

I FEEL SORRY FOR LUI TUCK YEW, HE IS JUST A SCAPEGOAT

The fact of the matter is that no matter who you appoint as Transport Minister, the situation is unlikely going to be resolved any time soon. Even if PAP loses the election, the railways will still not be fixed immediately by the next government. Even if Desmond Kuek loses his job, the railway issues will not be resolved immediately by the next CEO. There are very deep underlying reasons behind the breakdowns.

MRT BREAKDOWN BUT SINGAPOREAN KINDNESS & UNITY SHINES THROUGH ON BUS RIDE

Scenes on buses after all the trains in Singapore decided to break down today. So, you know, this is the Singapore I know. Lots of griping online, of course. A self-aware, self-mocking hashtag, of course. But in real life, a pragmatic kindness. The driver was an Indian man who was very, very insistent that every single person who could fit on the bus should board so they could get home.

ALL S’PORE MINISTERS MUST TAKE THE MRT DAILY UNTIL BREAKDOWNS STOP HAPPENING

Honestly enough is enough! Today is the worst MRT breakdown in Singapore history! The 2 main NS and EW lines broke down at the same time. The only way to solve this problem is for all the car driving Ministers in Singapore to take the MRT for their daily commute. When their own butts are on the line, they will pressure, hound and chase after SMRT to get their act together. Only then will all these fucking ridiculous breakdowns stop happening.

AMOS YEE: POLICE TOOK 14 HOURS BEFORE REPAIRING MY PRISON CELL TOILET BOWL

One time, quite inexplicably, the toilet bowl suddenly broke down, and we couldn’t flush the toilet. I went to the intercom and reported the matter and the police responded with an ‘ok, ok alright’. After 2 hours, they never came. So my cellmates and I waited eagerly for the policemen to come, as the pervasive smell of shit, permeated the cell. It took the police more than 14 hours, before they repaired it.
