An Indonesian citizen accused of perpetrating a recent robbery in Raffles Place in Singapore refused to speak to representatives of the Indonesian Embassy who visited him in hospital on Monday. Consul Sukmo Yuwono said it was striving to find a way to meet the alleged robber, Arun, a 38-year-old from Batam, Riau Islands. "Currently, he [Arun] doesn't want to be visited by anyone, including by embassy officials," he told The Jakarta Post on Monday.

The Riau Islands office of Bank Indonesia will investigate a criminal case involving Kang Tie Tie, a money changer from Batam who was stabbed and robbed in Singapore on Friday. The Criminal Investigation Department in Singapore is expected to provide the Indonesian Embassy in Singapore with information on the criminal case on Monday. -The Jakarta Post/ANN The Riau Islands office of Bank Indonesia (BI) will investigate a criminal case involving Kang Tie Tie, a money changer from Batam who was stabbed and robbed in Singapore on Friday. Among questions to be investigated include the fact that the businessman was able to take Rp 5 billion (S$527,908) out of the province without being detected by authorities.

50 Singaporeans Denied Entry into Batam Every Week For Talking Too Loud

Several Singaporeans found themselves turned back from Batam immigration yesterday after possibly flouting new rules. Miss Ann Fernandez and two friends were among a group of eight who were turned back from the Batam Centre Ferry Terminal after taking the 9.40am ferry there. The 33-year-old tutor said they were waiting to clear Indonesian immigration when an officer made them, along with another woman, stand in a separate line. Their travel documents were also taken away, she said.
