Pramanik Liton was waiting for an easy target along the Lornie trail when he saw the victim, a 40 year old Chinese woman. He forced her to perform sexual acts and threatened her with a 16cm knife. He denied the charges even though his semen was found on the victim. He claimed he did not touch her and was just trying to scare her when "she died out of fear". This is strange, given that the victim did not actually die. Justice Choo Han Teck said "this would have been the world's first supernatural trial. I see nothing supernatural". Liton was eventually convicted for aggravated rape, sexual assault and abduction for illicit intercourse.
