BANGLADESHI GETS 17 YRS JAIL & 24 STROKES FOR RAPING HIKER AT MACRITCHIE

A 24 year old Bangladeshi construction worker was sentenced to 17 years jail and 24 strokes of the cane for raping a woman at MacRitchie Reservoir Park in 2015. Pramanik Liton was waiting for an easy target along the Lornie trail when he saw the victim, a 40 year old Chinese woman. He forced her to perform sexual acts and threatened her with a 16cm knife. He denied the charges even though his semen was found on the victim. He claimed he did not touch her and was just trying to scare her when "she died out of fear".

This is strange, given that the victim did not actually die. Justice Choo Han Teck said "this would have been the world's first supernatural trial. I see nothing supernatural". Liton was eventually convicted for aggravated rape, sexual assault and abduction for illicit intercourse.

SHOULD FTS BE ALLOWED TO DRIVE VEHICLES ON SG ROADS?

A Bangladeshi technician was today sentenced to four weeks jail and banned for driving for five years for negligently causing the death of a motorcyclist. The Bangladeshi was making a right turn in his company van on an unsignalized road, but failed to come to a complete stop and ended up knocking down the motorcycle who had the right of way coming from the opposite direction.

The motorcyclist suffered extensive brain and spinal cord injuries, and died three days later. The Bangladeshi had been working in Singapore for 10 years. Which brings to mind this question. If you come form a foreign country and have a driving licence, is it just enough to convert this driving licence into a Singapore one?
