Kean Yew is currently World No 307, and this is his first tournament win since 2014. he had defeated the 16th, 12th and 10th seeds en route to the Malaysian final. The International Series tournaments represents the fourth level of Badminton World Federation events. Kean Yew is currently serving his NS, and his win was a pleasant surprise even for the Singapore Badminton Association.

Singapore finally can boast a World No 1 in a sport other than swimming, and she is local born and bred! Yeo Jia Min is the newly-crowned top junior female badminton player in the world, after the latest world rankings were released on Thursday by the Badminton World Federation, the sport's world governing body. And to make things even sweeter, she became World No 1 after leapfrogging Malaysia's top junior shuttler to claim the no 1 ranking. Jia Min, 18, is the first Singaporean to reach this milestone on either the junior or senior badminton circuits, either in the singles or doubles competition. In the senior circuit, she is ranked World No 62. She had won the Asian Under-17 Junior Championship in 2015, becoming the first Singaporean to triumph on that stage. Her first professional title was won July last year, when she won the Vietnam Grand Prix as an unseeded player. She also won the Dutch Junior event in March, before finishing as a runner-up at the German Junior a week later.

Just wanted to share something that literally just happened 5 mins ago. I was walking back to my block when I saw a lady usher her kid to the drain, when I walked closer, I saw that the little girl (around 5yo) was squatting down with her pants partially off. As I walked closer to my block, I saw that the little girl was literally defecating in the drain while the 2 adult ladies were playing badminton. And I shouted at them, pointing out the fact that this is unacceptable in public. I am assuming that these 2 women are probably China nationals because of their unmistakable accent. Of course, I might be wrong on this. But I have met them numerous time around my block and hearing their accent and style makes me around 90% sure they are China nationals.

The MSM are not reporting it. PAP is not admitting it. But most Singaporeans who are in sports know that Singapore sports are in deep trouble. Singapore Soccer which tried to use foreigners are in the doldrums. Will Singapore's Foreign talent programme fall flat and into dismay just like what happen to Singapore Sports? Will PAP finally wise up and admit that Singapore's future is best in Singaporeans' hands.

Singapore's Derek Wong on Sunday (Aug 3) won a silver medal in the Commonwealth Games badminton men's singles, after losing 2-1 to India's Kashyap Parupalli. In the finals, Wong lost 14-21, 21-11, 19-21 to second-seeded Parupalli. Wong, 25, is the first Singaporean medallist in the men's singles event.
