MAN ARRESTED FOR SLAPPING 3 YR OLD BOY WHO HIT HIS 2 YR OLD SON

FURIOUS that a three-year-old boy hit his two-year-old son, a father allegedly slapped the older child. But the slap was so hard that the boy had to be taken to hospital yesterday as his right cheek had swelled up. The man, believed to be in his 30s, was arrested by police after members of the public called the authorities and stopped him from escaping. The two boys were believed to have been playing near a market in Toa Payoh Lorong 7 yesterday morning. They did not know each other, Lianhe Wanbao reported.

TAXI DRIVER VICIOUSLY ATTACKED BY DRUNK ANG MOH AFTER REFUSING TO FETCH HIM

A cabby, was assaulted after refusing to take a Caucasian man at North Canal Road at 1am on Mon (Sep 22). The man allegedly reeked of alcohol, and turned violent when the cabby told him to flag another taxi. The cabby was reportedly slapped and stamped on by the 1.8m tall man, who then fled the scene. In an interview with Shin Min Daily News, the 46-year-old cabby said at that time he was tired and wanted to take a coffee and toile break before continuing to fetch more passengers.

NPARK RANGERS TO TRAIN IN MARTIAL ARTS AFTER RISING NUMBER OF PUBLIC ASSAULTS ON THEM

The National Parks Board (NParks) is getting its rangers or enforcement officers to go for self-defence courses, in the wake of rising assault cases by members of public. The authority has put out a tender on the Government's procurement portal, GeBIZ, for vendors to run self-defence courses for rangers. There were eight cases of assault recorded so far this year, up from two for the whole of last year, and seven from 2012. The Commissioner of Parks and Recreation at NParks, Dr Leong Chee Chiew, said in some cases, the officers had to be hospitalised.

Incensed that he hadn't won the lottery, an unemployed man vented his anger by punching a mother and daughter who just happened to be nearby. Gavin Khoo Theam Min, 37, was jailed for six weeks on Monday after pleading guilty to punching Madam Ho Sok Kan, 58, a telemarketer, and Ms Jessie Li Li Wen, 22, a student, at Clementi Avenue 3 on Aug 4.

PRC SBS driver ignores man’s plea for help as he gets beaten up on bus

Kumar had asked the driver for help around four to five times throughout the journey as the man had continued threatening him to a fight, but was repeatedly ignored by the bus driver, who simply continued driving even though Kumar was standing right next to him. The man then started raining punches on Kumar suddenly.According to Kumar, he had fallen onto the floor during the fight and saw a hand phone lying on the floor. He presumed it to be the attacker’s hand phone and picked it up to hand it over to the police. He asked the bus driver if he could stop the bus at Pasir Ris Police Centre, which is along the bus route but was told the bus could only stop at designated bus stops. Kumar alighted the bus two stops later and made a police report at the Pasir Ris Police Centre before going to Changi General Hospital for treatment.

Ex-kitchen helper jailed six weeks for punching taxi driver at carpark in Tampines

A kitchen helper got angry with a taxi driver for allegedly overcharging him and ended up punching the driver in the face in an incident last May. On Monday morning, the helper, who stopped working in January this year, was sentenced to six weeks' jail for the attack. Koh Tong Guan, 48, admitted to punching Mr Lee Lin, 41, at the carpark of Block 885A Tampines Street 83 on May 1 last year. The court heard that Koh had been drinking after finishing work on April 30.
