MORE ILLEGAL WORKERS ARE EXPECTED TO BE ARRESTED AT GEYLANG BAZAAR

MP for Marine Parade GRC, Dr Fatimah Lateef, said that in the wake of the arrests of illegal Indonesian workers at the Geylang Ramadan bazaar, there will likely be more arrests made. According to the MP, she would not be surprised if more people were caught for being illegal workers there, as she had seen many foreign workers frequenting the bazaar lately. She also reiterated that if these workers were found to be working illegally, they should be arrested immediately. She also said that the arrests of foreign workers working illegally in the Geylang Bazaar is not something new, as this had been going on in previous year's bazaar too. She also revealed that a special task force was set up a long time ago to check the status of foreign workers in the Geylang Bazaar.

WILL VIGILANTE MINDSET PREVAIL IN THE SOCIAL MEDIA AGE OF PUBLIC SHAMING?

This can be both good and bad. The good thing is, everybody knows that they cannot get away with such brazen acts in public, as any wrong move may result in the authorities getting involved. But the bad thing is, will this encourage a sort of vigilante movement? We have already seen many videos posted of drivers driving recklessly on the roads. While those that really endanger the lives of people on the road should be dealt with, what about those that only tell one side of the story?

2 MOLESTERS NABBED, INCLUDING ONE WHO MOLESTED 13 YEAR-OLD GIRL

In the first case, a 26-year-old woman reported on March 23, that she had been molested by a man on a train, police said in a news release on Wednesday (Apr 15). A 62-year-old man was subsequently arrested on Tuesday at Jurong West Avenue 5. In the second case, a 13-year-old girl lodged a police report on Apr 7, informing authorities that she had been molested by a man at a bus stop along Bukit Batok Street 25. A 51-year-old man was nabbed on Monday at Clementi Avenue 5.
