WORKERS PARTY ANNOUNCES MUCH LOWER S&CC ARREARS AFTER THOROUGH AUDIT

AHPETC wishes to announce that its S&CC arrears rate (for 3 months and above) for residential units as of 30 September 2014 is 5.66% of households. The corresponding arrears rate for commercial units for the same period is 7.24%. We wish to explain that we are sharing the information now rather than earlier, as time was needed to have the data and process reviewed both internally and also by our consultants before release. AHPETC had also undertaken to explain further its arrears situation and management, which we now do.

MND: 63% OF AHPETC HOUSEHOLDS IN ARREARS ONLY AFTER WP TOOK OVER

Among the 16,000 households in arrears in the estates run by the Aljunied-Hougang-Punggol East Town Council (AHPETC), about 63 per cent — or 10,000 — started owing payments only in the past two years, the Ministry of National Development (MND) said yesterday, citing the town council’s latest submitted report dated April last year. It was also revealed that half of the commercial tenants in the estates were in arrears, compared with the arrears rates of 8.2 per cent for hawkers and 29.4 per cent for households.

S$420 million in CPF arrears recovered in 2013

The Central Provident Fund (CPF) Board recovered about S$420 million in CPF arrears last year, benefiting more than 250,000 local workers. In comparison, it recovered S$293 million in 2012. In a statement, the CPF Board said the increase in CPF arrears recovered was due to stepped up enforcement efforts, as well as workers being more aware of their rights.
