MAN ASHAMED OF PARENTS WHO BORROW MONEY JUST TO LOOK RICH DURING CNY

While people are renting a boyfriend during CNY, my parents are "renting" money so that we can have enough to buy oranges, clothes and to give Hong Baos to our relatives' children so as to prevent our relatives from looking down on our plight. NETIZENS BLAST WESTGATE FOR DISTASTEFUL ANG BAO RATE CARD

I refer to this distasteful post by Westgate. The SBL did not just invite devotees or its members, it opened its doors for the whole of Singapore! They invited other religious bodies like Jamiyah and some Indian groups too. You could see Malays, Indians as well as Chinese, and non-Buddhist all invited to receive the donation.

POLY STUDENT GIVES OUT HONGBAOS TO CONSTRUCTION WORKERS IN KIND GESTURE

On Wednesday (Feb 12), I went to a construction site behind Plaza Singapura and gave 20 workers there a $5 hongbao, using the money I got from hongbaos given to me during Chinese New Year. I was pretty nervous at first, as I feared they may have taken my gesture the wrong way but I'm glad things worked out okay. We may have shared little in words, but the smile on their faces showed they understood and appreciated the gesture.I did that to show them that we too appreciate them for their hard work.
