The High Court has put arbitration proceedings between Aljunied-Hougang Town Council (AHTC) and its former managing agent FM Solutions and Services (FMSS) on hold today.

The former Aljunied-Hougang-Punggol East town council, which was run by the Workers' Party, is accused of opting for more expensive contracts instead of extending existing contracts at much lower prices when they ran the constituency.

It is the fourth time AHPETC has been banded red for service and conservancy charges (S&CC) arrears management and the third time for corporate governance.” Does getting red for S & C C arrears management mean that the town council may be more compassionate to resident households that have difficulty paying?

The Aljunied-Hougang-Punggol East Town Council (AHPETC) was issued 2 red bandings again by the Ministry of National Development in the areas of Service and Conservancy Charges (S&CC) Arrears Management and Corporate Governance for its FY2014 Town Council Management Report. This is the 4th time AHPETC has been banded red for S&CC charges and the 3rd time it has received red marks for Corporate Governance.

Kudos to LHL for such a successful campaign strategy!! His strategy? Just bang on TWO things – a dead ah gong and AHPETC!! We have shown utmost respect to ah gong and the old guards because they were great problem solvers!! Unfortunately, that ability is not coded in the PAP’s DNA and the new leaders have not acquired a single strain!! In fact, not only are they no longer great in solving problems, they are the ones who have created the problems in the first place!!

According to Worker's Party (WP) chairwoman Sylvia Lim, the legal demand for $3.5 million in unpaid fees to FM Solutions & Services (FMSS), the former Managing Agent of the WP-run Aljunied Hougang Punggol East Town Council (AHPETC), will not affect AHPETC's bottomline.

The Auditor General’s Office (AGO) report on its audit of the Workers’ Party-led Aljunied-Hougang-Punggol East Town Council (AHPETC) has raised the issue of a conflict of interest in the management of the town council.

We are appalled at the series of careless accusations made by your Ministry against Aljunied Hougang Punggol East Town Council (AHPETC). It is shocking that despite our clarifications on your allegations relating to lost monies and overpayment, your Ministry continues to make spurious statements to distract the public and aimed at politically discrediting AHPETC. MOF and MND issued a joint statement in response to AHPETC’s media release following a parliamentary debate on Monday, 17th August. AHPETC has simply misquoted DPM Tharman, and attributed to him statements he did not make. DPM Tharman did not make any statement on whether AHPETC could fulfil its obligations if the MND grant “is paid in entirety into AHPETC’s Sinking Funds”. Further, he did not refer to AHPETC’s sinking fund obligations for FY14/15, i.e. ending 31 Mar 2015.
