FIRE BREAKS OUT AT ALJUNIED HDB UNIT, TIN PEI LING WASTED NO TIME THANKING SCDF

No injuries were reported. The fire involved contents of a room, and the cause of the fire is being investigated. MacPherson Member of Parliament Tin Pei Ling thanked the police and SCDF for their "quick and effective response". The block involved is under the purview of the MacPherson single-member constituency. Ms Tin shared a photo of herself with some policemen and firefighters on Facebook on Thursday night, saying they were "courageous and knew exactly what needed to be done".

SLASHING INCIDENT AT ALJUNIED LED TO ARREST OF MAN

A 31 year old man was arrested after what appeared to be a slashing incident at the junction of Aljunied Road and Sims Avenue on Wednesday (Aug 3) afternoon. The victim, a 29-year-old man, suffered slash wounds on his left arm after being attacked with a knife.

He left a bloody trail that stretched for 5m along the sheltered walkway outside the Singapore Geylang Methodist Church.

ALJUNIED RESIDENT: ILLEGAL DUMPING OF FURNITURE REASON FOR ZIKA & DENGUE OUTBREAK

Do you know that unwanted furniture like sofa, beds and refrigerators are being dumped along Geylang Lorong 16 and 18? Now you understand why the Aljunied Sim Ave area is a zika and dengue cluster? All these trash is perfect breeding ground for aedes mosquitoes and with all the rain recently, sure it will worsen the situation. NEA can do fogging all they like but if they do not take action against such illegal dumping, the situation will never be resolved properly.

DOCTOR WHO UNCOVERED ZIKA OUTBREAK: ALLEGATIONS OF COVER UP ARE BASELESS, STOP THE FINGER POINTING

The Zika outbreak at the Sims Drive/Aljunied Crescent area the past week must have been unsettling for many. What seems like a remote possibility has now become a dreaded reality. Yesterday, while my colleagues and I were still combing through our clinic patients' records to identify possible Zika cases we'd missed earlier, there were many NEA officers working in pairs under the hot sun, inspecting every nook and corner to eradicate mosquito breeding. Their jobs were no less significant than ours. Similarly, we can all contribute and play a crucial role by keeping our environment clean to prevent mosquito breeding and practise social responsibility to halt community transmission.

ALJUNIED RESIDENT: MURALI ABANDONED US AND FAILED TO KEEP HIS PROMISES!

Now that Murali has decided to abandon us for a shot at the high part-time salaried post, what has become of the promises he and his fellow teammates for that matter, made to us? Was it just in vain? No matter what the outcome of the BE is, my neighbors and I have already decided to cast our lots with the Mr Low Thia Khiang instead of Victor Lye at the next GE as their insincerity and dishonesty have seriously put us off to a point of no return.
