DRUNK BUS DRIVER DROVE SBS BUS ON HIS NORMAL SHIFT, MIRACLE NO ACCIDENT OCCURRED

Ever heard of drink driving, but this time the driver was actually a SBS Transit bus driver, driving a public bus service? This was what actually happened on June 29 last year.

SBS Transit bus driver Nagibullah Raja Saleem was so drunk he nodded off at the wheel, missed bus stops, and even veered his bus into oncoming traffic, almost crashing into several vehicles. Some of his passengers shouted at him, but he brushed them off. To add insult to injury, he even drank vodka from a bottle during the journey, having had alcohol before his shift began. He was so drunk that five hours after he stopped driving, his alcohol levels were still 2.4 times above the legal limit.

Footage of his drunk driving revealed that he drove recklessly by beating several red lights, occasionally dozing off at the wheel, swerved into other lanes or the road shoulder, and missed designated bus stops more than once, at one point allowing passengers to alight near a kerb along a bend on the road, rather than the bus stop.

CLUB JULY DELIVERS ALCOHOL THRU UBEREATS AFTER 10.30PM, BOLEH?

Our reader found a restaurant called Club July at Bishan that still delivers alcohol through UberEats after 10.30pm. "so UberEats restaurant can deliver alcohol to my house downstairs even after the allowed hours?"

According to UberEats' regulation, retail outlets and delivery services are not allowed to sell takeaway alcohol in Singapore from 10.30pm to 7am. Singapore's liquor law also states that drinking is banned in public areas after 10.30pm.

What do you think? Can or not?

SG WANTS TO BAN 18 YEAR OLDS FROM SMOKING, BUT WILL ALLOW THEM TO LEGALLY GET DRUNK

Studies have shown that people are more likely to pick up the habit of smoking if the minimum age allowed is 18, and those who start smoking before they turn 21 is likely to make this a lifelong habit. Thus, it makes sense that to cut down on the number of smokers here, then raising the minimum age is the way to go.

However, there lies a legal problem in this. This is because in Singapore, at 18 years old, a person can get a driving licence, watch an adult-themed film, and be appointed as a director of a company. The same 18-year-old male in national service will be trained to use a rifle, and a person can marry with parental consent. An 18 year old can also legally consume alcohol, if he wants to. It would seem that the law then deems an 18-year-old mature enough to fulfill the responsibilities of all these roles and actions.

Dear NTUC FairPrice, I would like to bring your attention to this product that I just purchased from your FairPrice supermarket today. True enough, Benzyl Alcohol was in the list of ingredients, and on the opposite panel it says Alcohol Free.
