AVA FAILED TO CATCH SEGAR RD MONKEY FOR 2 WKS, INSTALLS CCTV INSTEAD

Five new CCTV cameras were set up in Bukit Panjang in order to help catch the troublemaking monkey. AVA said the cameras will allow them to better understand the monkey's movements and plan more effective operations.

There are around 160 reports of monkey attacks but AVA and ACRES are still trying to catch the monkey. They have no choice but to install CCTV after failing to catch one monkey for the past two weeks.

The attacks are believed to be by a single monkey which has occasionally popped by nearby schools and stole students' lunchboxes.

Do you think this is effective?

ACRES CAUGHT PYTHON IN 2 MINS BUT CAN'T CATCH SEGAR RD MONKEYS

A 2m long python was found at a bicycle parking area near Blk 113 Potong Pasir. A passer by was walking his dog nearby when he noticed the python and called for help.

He was worried as the area is home to childcare centres and was afraid it might harm the children there.

ACRES reportedly rushed to the scene and caught the python in only 2 minutes. They informed people not to provoke one if they see it in future as it does not usually target humans.

How come ACRES can catch python in 2 minutes but cannot catch monkeys?

ACRES: SEGAR RD MONKEY IS AGGRESSIVE DUE TO HUMAN FEEDING

Thanks to many of you who wrote to us concerned, about the monkey at Segar road. ACRES is equally concerned for the community and these monkeys in our garden city - where wild encounters will become inevitable as they will use the green corridors adjacent to housing estates. Unfortunately, the behaviour of the monkey at Segar Road has been severely altered due to public feeding and harassment. ACRES has met with residents on the ground on several occasions and also has educated callers who report of sightings not to feed or interact with monkeys in general.

Another dead cat has been found Yishun. The cat was found lying on the walkway next to the petrol kiosk near block 732 Yishun Ave 5. This comes after the alleged serial cat killer Lee Wai Leong was released on bail. Did the alleged cat killer strike again, or is this the work of another copy cat killer? Some cat lovers have expressed their disappointment at the weak enforcement laws for animal abusers, while others have questioned if such perpetrators deserve sympathy and help from certain MPs who have gone out to find lawyers to fight their case pro bono.
