Section 377A: Laughably Outdated Law

The question now lies on how such rights can be introduced into this otherwise conservative nation and why it took this long for any reasonable discussion in void decks or social media to occur.

DRUG COURIER DESERVED A 2ND CHANCE, PLS ABOLISH THE DEATH PENALTY!

My most sincere of condolences to the family, friends and loved ones of the late Muhammad Ridzuan. It's really sad that he had to go off this way. It's definitely a must to appreciate and thank Mr Ravi for fighting till the last moment of Ridzuan's death. In a country filled with keyboard warriors, I'm proud that this one man stood out to help with no fear or negative influences. People do make mistakes and I think they should be punished. But they should be forgiven and given the opportunity for a second chance. For an offence which Ridzuan had committed when he was 25 years of age and for him to be hanged after 7 years is really a big heartbreak! Is there no chance of rehabilitation for a young Singaporean offender who was only 25 years of age and even then only a mere courier? The government sets the laws against anyone committing/attempting suicide. You said that the law, deters the distressed from taking their own lives. Then you, impose the death penalty and take away the very same distressed person by taking away their lives? My intention here is not to challenge the government or the law but to humanely ask for the death penalty to be abolished. Please do something about this and please find a more humane solution to this.

ABOLISH THE UNFAIR ISA LAW & FREE ALL DETAINEES, LET THEM DEFEND THEMSELVES IN COURT

I read with dismay that another S'porean man has been arrested for professing his support for ISIS terrorist group. I believe this to be unjust and unfair. The Internal Security Act (ISA) used to arrest Zulfikar is an archaic law, undemocratic and should be abolished! Under the law, Mr Zulfikar Shariff has not commited a single crime! Did he hurt someone? Did he work for the terrorist group? Why are they not given a fair trial in open court? What is the Government afraid of the people knowing? Do the right thing and abolish the ISA, free all those unfairly arrested by this unjust law and allow them to defend themselves.

SDP: PAP MUST RETURN ALL CPF MONIES TO THE PEOPLE

Singaporeans must be able to withdraw all their savings to fund their retirement years. In other words, abolish the Minimum Sum Scheme. Singaporeans are much better custodians and managers of their own money than the PAP Government. The current system of the Government withholding the people’s savings while indulging in dubious, non-transparent and non-accountable investments by the GIC and Temasek Holdings is trouble waiting to happen. In contrast, the SDP’s three measures cited above will give Singaporeans sufficient funds to live our retirement in security and dignity. Singaporeans work hard our entire lives and should not be squeezed even more during our retirement years.

Call to Abolish the Elected Presidency

I have no quarrels with MP Denise Phua’s bold and unprecedented call to abolish the Elected Presidency. For such a speech to be delivered in Parliament reflects the stirring of the return of democracy and freedom of speech to our land. That the new Whip did not interrupt her speech or call her to order is also another good sign.

Abolish GST to reduce cost of living & Govt still has surplus

The government collects $10 billion in GST each year and has a surplus of $30 billion in the budget, according to IMF accounting conventions. They can remove the GST totally and still have a fairly healthy budget surplus of $20 billion. Removal of GST totally will reduce the cost of living by at least 7% and could be more, if the saving in accounting and administration for GST and GST vouchers is considered. This will bring immediate relief to an economy that is heavily strained with high business cost, and a people that is suffering from high cost of living.
