We do have a lot of PMETs who have lost their jobs and have no choice but to take up taxi, property and insurance licenses. They want their old job but are doing temp now. And I’m sure, for taking up such jobs even though it is out of necessity, the government will still consider them to be “employed”. The good economy is derived from overtaxing Singaporeans and casinos. Citizens have not really benefited. But to continue to hoodwink the public into believing that a good economy means many good jobs, they are “fixing the stats” through various means. With so many unemployed and underemployed people around me, how can I believe the government’s unemployment figure?

It is interesting to note that amongst the top 10 most expensive cities in the world, 5 out of 7 of the countries that the cities are situated in all operate on a minimum wage system. San Francisco (ranked 9th) has the highest minimum wage of S$12.65 per hour, followed by New York (ranked 5th) with a minimum wage of S$9 per hour. Even Switzerland, the only country that does not have an official minimum wage other than Singapore, is slowly gearing towards operating based on a minimum wage system – with the Swiss residents being able to vote on whether they want to have this system or not.

The Bus Service Reliability Framework (BSRF) trial is a first step towards addressing feedback from commuters on bus reliability and regularity, and commuter safety will also be of paramount concern, said the Land Transport Authority (LTA).
