I would like to share this incident that has happened to me recently. I am a single mom from Malaysia who has a tough time making ends meet working in a restaurant and a house cleaning job in Singapore to support my 2 young kids after my husband left me.
I refer to the article “At APEC, PM Lee calls for fair distribution of globalisation’s benefits” (Channel NewsAsia, Nov 11). It states that “It is important to ensure that the economic benefits of digitalisation and globalisation are “fairly distributed”, said Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong on Saturday (Nov 11).
While the Workers' Party's suggestion to reduce class sizes for the benefit of students has been shot down by none other than the PAP minister in charge of education, Mr Ng Chee Meng, it remains a popular and valid idea that most teachers would love to see implemented for the benefit of their students.
NCMP for the Workers' Party Leon Perera and Junior Minister for the People's Action Party Chee Hong Tat crossed swords once again in parliament, this time over the issue of an edited parliamentary video uploaded by Mediacorp.
A video of the fight was later uploaded online and shows one of the men throwing his opponent onto the ground with a move resembling a judo throw. Both men then try to throw one another onto the ground, before one man managed to overpower his opponent and pin him down.
