FAKE VOLUNTEERS COLLECTING DONATIONS FOR CHARITY

It was reported today that the Singapore Heart Foundation (SHF) has filed a police report against fake volunteers who asked for donation using their name. The fake volunteers were apparently doing their rounds at Bugis Junction on 19 February.

In fact, in more recent times, there have been lots of leaflets placed under doors of HDB flats, stating that they are doing a collection in behalf of some charitable or religious organisations, and to leave unwanted but usable items like clothes and newspapers outside the house. How do we know that these people are really collecting on behalf of the organistions they are supposed to? What if they turn out to be fake volunteers as well, collecting used items for their own profit?

INDIAN FT SUPERVISOR BACK-STABBED ME, WANTS TO GIVE MY JOB TO FELLOW INDIAN FT

In my previous company, I wasn't very happy with my supervisor so I decide to talk to my director about it. He decide to sit in as well (my biggest mistake is to allow him to do that). In front of director, he said I am always later for work even though I live near the office. Then say I go lunch sometimes more than 1hr. I was like huh? You step into office after 9am (8.30am work time) all the time and you complain that I am late? Wow.....I didn't say anything though. I know you live in woodlands but does that give you a right to come late everyday?

HDT PAYS TAXI DRIVER BASIC SALARY AND CPF, RELIEF STRESS FOR THEM

What HDT Singapore Taxi does is luring taxi drivers by offering fixed salaries and employment benefits such as annual leave and Central Provident Fund (CPF) contributions. Thus, taxi drivers don't have to go out and drive taxi as renters, so they don't have to worry about covering their costs for the day before counting their earnings. With this scheme, taxi drivers can go out and drive, knowing that at the end of each month, they will bring home a standard pay package, and have CPF contributions to boot.

GRABHITCH DRIVER TOLD ME TO WALK TO MY OFFICE AS OTHER PASSENGER ALREADY LATE

On 20th Feb morning I've booked GrabHitch and got confirmation by driver Maverick (Honda Stream SJM3443Z). Driver texted me telling me there will be another passenger sharing, hope I don't mind. Of course I won't mind as I knew GrabHitch was something similar to GrabShare. Driver picked me first and proceed to pick the second passenger. Along the journey, the passenger asked if by 9:15am able to reach her destination and driver replied will try his best.

When reaching the security guard post at my location, I told the driver to go straight ahead and I will alight at lift lobby but got rejected. The driver simply answered me - she's running late so i gotta walk in! I paid for my fare and got my rights, why should I walk in? I was also late for picking her. Does that mean she's late then I need to bear responsibility? It was the driver who couldn't fulfill 2 pick ups and blamed it on the traffic. I'm also consumer, why the other passenger got more priority than me?

SAF MAN DIES WHILE DOING OWN PHYSICAL TRAINING

Although being in an army camp, and medical facility were available, all efforts to try to revive the man failed. We will never know why a seemingly healthy man can just collapse and die. In fact, a lot of these kind of incidences are happening. Is it because of our hectic lifestyle, that even with regular physical training, our bodies seemingly can just give up on us?

MISSING HIKER FOUND DEAD AT MULTI-STOREY CARPARK

Steward Lee had been missing since Friday, and his friends and family members had spared no effort to try and find him. How he had managed to remain missing for three days, no one will probably know. Police investigations are ongoing in this very minute, let's hope they ascertain the cause of death really soon. This will hopefully bring closure to the family of the deceased.

BEES ATTACK WOMAN IN AMK PARK, WHY ARE BEES THERE IN THE FIRST PLACE?

SCDF confirmed the woman was taken to the hospital conscious. Wonder what triggered the attack on the woman by the swarm of bees. Were they provoked? The main thing was, why was there a swarm of bees in the area in the first place? This is a well used park, with many people going through it for exercise, or to get to the McDonald's restaurant located nearby. AVA, NParks, and all the other authorities responsible for keeping our parks safe, time to move on from giving excuses about culling of chickens and checking of trees done to world standards.

KOH POH KOON SAYS 50 CHICKENS IN SIN MING MORE DANGEROUS THAN PIGEONS IN HAWKER CENTERS

Koh Poh Koon also said that the population of free-roaming chickens in Sin Ming had doubled to 50, and that studies have shown chickens are more susceptible to the bird flu virus, compared to other birds like pigeons. Is this just another lousy excuse? You culled the chickens already due to noise complaints in the first place, people became unhappy, and you had to come up with some other excuses. So naturally, bird flu is the excuse. Stop this nonsense now.

SDP: PAP TAKING ADVANTAGE OF S'POREANS BY INTRODUCING PRICE HIKES DURING POOR ECONOMY

It is shocking that the Government will increase prices for water by 30 percent. This comes at a time when Singaporeans are facing great uncertainty as the economy takes a turn for the worse. Finance Minister Heng Swee Keat justified the hike by pointing out that water prices have not increased in 17 years. He did not provide figures to back his claim that the costs of supplying water to Singaporeans have increased. Citing the fact that water prices have not increased in 17 years is an excuse, not a valid reason, for the price hike. The PAP is clearly taking advantage of Singaporeans by collecting more tax revenue at a time when the people can least afford it.

GOVT ALWAYS QUOTE REBATES GIVEN, BUT NEVER SHOW REVENUE EARNED

So, there was no revenue figure, no costs figure (to justify the increase), but there was a figure as to how much more it would cost the Government to give the rebate increase (to help offset the price increase). As an analogy, it may be akin to telling you that I need to charge you more because it cost me more, but I will help you by giving you a rebate – but I never tell you how much more I will receive from the price increase or how much more it is costing me – but I can tell you how much more it will cost me to give you the rebate.
