52-year-old woman earned $325/month as part-timer to pay $6300 penalty to Pawsitive Sensations for breaking bond

Remember the 52-year-old lady who took on 2 jobs earning only $600/month in order to survive? I mentioned before about the contract that I have signed demanding penalty payment if I broke the bond even though I paid my own course fee of $1600 (instalment payment of $400/4 months – receipts attached). I have quit in December last year from the company. Its a Asst Canine Massage Practitioner course and lasted for 6 months. I have completed the course. Its ridiculous that I have to pay back $6300 for breaking the bond when the course fee of $1600 is all paid by me. Is this fair?

FCBC: ALL IN THE FAMILY

We were convinced that the oppression was spiritual and decided to have the idols and ancestral tablet removed from our home. After much discussion with my brothers, they agreed. On 9 Jan this year, prison ministry staff and volunteers came to my home for the idol removal. They instructed and encouraged us with the Word, and together we destroyed the idols and the altar. My apartment is now much brighter and airier!

HENG SWEE KEAT HIGHLIGHTS THE BENEFITS OF SPONSORING FT STUDENTS

Citing his experience when he was a civil servant at the Trade and Industry Ministry, he noted that when he travelled in the region negotiating trade agreements, he met many people who had studied in Singapore institutions. “There is such a reservoir of goodwill and friendship and trust that allows us to do things together,” he said in his reply to Mr Png. Mr Heng also noted that Singapore was not the only country seeking to draw talented students from abroad. He said that China has given several Singaporeans scholarships to study in its universities.

Policemen to wear body cameras – Good Idea. What about Interrogations, Investigations and Interviews?

I think this is an excellent idea. I had previously wondered why we weren't following certain police forces elsewhere, which have cameras mounted on the police vehicles dashboards to record activities whilst patrolling or stopping cars and persons. This measure goes 1 better, instead of just in a car which can only record from 1 angle (the front) and on a road, a body camera can capture and record activity anywhere. I'm sure we have a law that forbids people from recording or sharing their recordings of policemen in the execution of their duty. Or the police can seize such recordings on the pretext it interferes or compromises their investigations. So to resolve this in an ever increasing digital world, a video recording by a policemen will help, provided protocols are in place to prevent their tampering, if and when it becomes necessary to view it.

MH370: My recommendation to the NTSB

I sent this email to Peter Knudson (Media Relations) at the NTSB, and he will consider if its worthy of forwarding onto investigators. At the end of this email, I’ve listed sensible and low-cost recommendations to best aid recovery efforts.

Six important facts you’re not being told about lost Malaysia Airlines Flight 370

There are some astonishing things you're not being told about Malaysia Airlines Flight 370, the flight that simply vanished over the Gulf of Thailand with 239 people on board. The mystery of the flight's sudden and complete disappearance has even the world's top air safety authorities baffled. "Air-safety and antiterror authorities on two continents appeared equally stumped about what direction the probe should take," reports the Wall Street Journal. While investigators are baffled, the mainstream media isn't telling you the whole story, either. So I've assembled this collection of facts that should raise serious questions in the minds of anyone following this situation.

So Singaporean graduates can’t get a job?

Last week, I heard an interesting rumor that Japanese run NHK is making a documentary about “How graduates in Singapore CANNOT find jobs”! It seems like some people already got interviewed about this topic. I’m not sure how accurate that is. The fact is, success rates of graduates from the NUS getting a job see an employment rate of between 80%-100% (most ranging the upper percentiles) within 6 months of their final exam. From my observations, Singaporeans have many opportunities in the employment market. The jobs here are diverse, interesting and offer a wide variety of wage packages. They cater to a wide variety of skills, abilities and interests.

Singaporeans behaving badly abroad

An article by an anonymous writer in one of Singapore’s blogs which unfairly commented on the boisterous behaviour of some Filipino domestic workers prompted me to share the following photos I recently took in Berlin. Each of these street arts was painted by internationally renowned artists invited in 1990 to express their thoughts following the fall of the Berlin Wall. This stretch of the Berlin Wall, managed by the East Side Gallery, was intended to be an open-air international memorial for freedom, and not a free-for-all graffiti space. Hence I would rather be in a bus with the boisterous Filipino domestic workers, then in a gallery with any of the three philistines. The Filipinos were behaving naturally abroad, as at home. But those three, who identified themselves as Singaporeans, were behaving badly in the extreme while abroad.

50-year-old PMET with engineering NUS masters degree under employed and getting fresh graduate salary

I read your articles about Master degree holders not holding proper JOBs and decided to contribute. There are many of my classmates who are in similar situation and they are driving taxis. I want to remain anonymous. I had a MSc (EE) and B Eng (Electrical) and postgraduate Dip (Business admin) – all from NUS. Yet I am only doing a job for Diploma or ITE graduates – quite depressing. Now I am above 50 but I have been in this position for 4 years now – getting paid less than a fresh degree graduate.
