ELECTIONS DEPARTMENT RELEASES REPORT ON NEW ELECTORAL BOUNDARIES

The Electoral Boundaries Review Committee has released its report on the new electoral boundaries on 24 Jul 2015. This is a clear indication that the General Elections is around the corner. Moulmein-Kallang GRC which includes Ministers Dr Yaacob Ibrahim and Mr Lui Tuck Yew, as well as MPs Denise Phua and Mr Edwin Tong has been dissolved. The dissolved GRC is now part of Holland-Bukit Timah, Bishan-Toa Payoh, Tanjong Pagar and Jalan Besar GRCs.

SCDF LOOKING FOR S'POREANS WHO RESCUED MAN PINNED UNDER TRUCK

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) is looking for the group of about 30 people who rushed to help a South Korean man pinned under a lorry at Boon Keng Road. In it's Facebook post yesterday, the SCDF praised them for putting up "a display of the Singapore spirit" and added: "proof that you don't have to be in a costume to be a superhero".

PAP: QUARTER OF OLD PAP MPS TO STEP DOWN, REPLACED BY NEW FACES

According to the People's Action Party (PAP), about a quarter of the current PAP MPs will step down in favor of new blood in the party - and surprisingly, many of these new faces will have a background in the private sector instead of the PAP's traditional recruitment grounds of civil servants and military officers. Only 25% of the new faces are from the Government and armed forces, PAP organising secretary and Defence Minister Ng Eng Hen said.

WHY ELECTION 2015 AND NOT ELECTION 2016?

Surprise, surprise, LHL has finally admitted that the electoral boundaries review committee was formed two months back. I think this is easily the worst kept secret as you can see the sudden increase in activities by the PAP grassroots. This is also evident when the MOM has now u-turned and say that degrees from degree mills will be rejected. Just weeks ago, they stood firmly by their decision that experience is more important than “fake” degrees!! But what are the reasons for this supposedly strategic move by another “paper” general - LHL?

REFORM PARTY: WE ARE DISGUSTED WITH LEE HSIEN LOONG'S RELEVATIONS!

Like his father before him, the Prime Minister has never felt confident of winning a free and democratic election fairly on his Government’s record and policies. He continues to shamelessly: Maintain complete control of the media through outright ownership and legislation that gives the state a monopoly or the right to demand editorial control...

WP YOUTH WING LEADER: EXPECT MAJOR BOUNDARY CHANGES TO ALJUNIED GRC!

On a serious note, there is a possibility of Kaki Bukit division being carved out from Aljunied GRC and do expect major boundary changes to Aljunied GRC: 4-member GRC comprising Kaki Bukit, Kembangan-Chai Chee, Bedok South and Simei. Goh Chok Tong will lead Marine Parade GRC. Tan Chuan Jin will lead the new [Bedok] GRC. This has many interesting implications. The AJ team will be left without a Malay MP in Aljunied and forces WP to make a change of MP at the Eunos division, taking Pritam Singh out. Strategic dilemma for the WP immediately but also an opportunity, freeing up Pritam Singh. On the flip side, it is an admission that Faisal has done a good job as MP over the period of one parliamentary term.
