Just balloted for tomorrow's adjournment motion (3 Oct 2017). Sylvia Lim's motion has been picked. She was present for the draw, as she had been the previous round. Vikram Nair's motion would have to be deferred again for the fourth time. His topic is on the future of NS. There are various platforms for every individual MPs to surface issues that concern them. Do make full use of these opportunities.
A man who was sitting directly across me slipped off his seat and fell to the floor. He appeared to be having an epileptic fit. A young lady proceeded to press the emergency button and shared with the driver what had happened over the intercom. A foreign worker beside me was initially hesitant to help, but later assisted by applying pressure on the man's eyebrow dents to stop his epileptic fit.
Shortly after, the train came to a stop and a male SBS staff member with a walkie-talkie came to examine the man who was lying on the ground. The staff member and two other passengers then helped to carry the man out of the train.
What is going to happen to the hundreds of thousands of Singaporeans who were sold by the consistent rhetoric in the last few decades that HDB is “asset enhancement” – only to be rudely awakened now – that flats may depreciate in value to zero, as they age towards the end of the 99-year lease?
At around 9 am when the victim still had not come home, Mr Yang's father went back downstairs. This time, he walked to the accident site and told police officers that he could not find his wife. According to Mr Yang, a warehouse supervisor, investigators spoke to his father and realised the victim's name matched his wife's. They asked Mr Yang's father if he would like to identify the body, but the latter declined to do so. Investigators then handed Mr Yang's father a photo of the deceased instead.
However, due to the severity of the victim's injuries, Mr Yang's father was unable to recognise his wife. As such, he told police officers that the deceased was not his wife. Mr Yang's father subsequently called him to come to the scene, but he too, was unable to identify the deceased until later.
This was in response to the question posed by WP MP Pritam Singh, on whether the Bukit Panjang LRT was an “afterthought” built under “political pressure”. The term was used by Transport Minister Khaw Boon Wan last month, who had also taken aim at the LRT's "twists and turns' design. Mr Ng also further blamed the design flaw as being adapted from an airport system to a housing estate, and said that “It was a ‘straight-line’ design which had to be adapted to undulating terrain and sharp turns."
A man was arrested for suspected drink driving after crashing his car into a tree along Braddell Road on Sep 27 at around 11.25pm. In a video of what happened that was widely circulated online, the car can first be seen travelling on the first lane of the three-lane road.
The driver then mounted the kerb and crashed into a tree at a relatively high speed. The car's bonnet was severely damaged and debris was strewn across the road. The accident actually also involved another car as well as a taxi.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said it responded to a case of a missing person at Kallang River at about 5.30pm. The SCDF said its officers from the Disaster Assistance and Rescue Team (DART) searched the area and found the body 10 metres from the river bank.
I agree with the remarks “An overly dominant ruling party faces dangers such as resistance to change and complacency”. In this connection, our nation’s greatest asset – our people – may be in the process of being destroyed – by the Government’s “resistance to change and complacency”. The widespread feeling of Singaporeans that their value in their own country is being diminished is perhaps manifested in the record numbers of Singaporeans living abroad.
With the app, motorists just have to key in their vehicle number, enter the car park code, indicate the duration of parking, and pay via a credit or debit card. Fees are based on the length of time a car is parked on a per-minute basis. The app will also notify users when their parking sessions expire, so you can either extend the parking session, or go out of the carpark.
With this, there is now no reason for you not to pay your parking charge, and the authorities found another novel way to keep collecting cash off you.
Three members of Function 8 were harassed by several plain clothes and uniformed police personnel from Cantonment Police Division soon after witnessing the arrest of Mr Seelan Palay by at least 12 police officers. The incident took place outside Parliament House yesterday afternoon (Sunday 1 Oct 2017). Standing outside Parliament House, Mr Seelan Palay holding a mirror, performed “32 Years: The Interrogation of a Mirror”. It was a powerful performance, daring, philosophical and poetic.
