WORSHIPPERS BURN OFFERINGS IN BULK, EVEN CHINESE NEIGHBOR ALSO CAN'T TAKE IT

A Chinese netizen has shared his frustrating experience living in an "old estate", Bukit Merah View, where the majority of old folks still practice burning offerings for the Hungry Ghost Festival.

Unfortunately for the netizen, because large offering "Bagua" altars were erected in his estate, worshippers from neighboring estates have also been making their way down to his estate to burn offerings en mass!

He wrote: "On special occasions or 7th month, they will burn largescale quantities of offerings(as in pict) in these concrete burner. The burner under my hdb block is only 2 metres away!

"Why are this burner built so close to our homes and are largescale incense papers burning allowed at all?"

He wonders why the Town Council has not assigned a proper marked space a safe distance away from residential units who will be adversely affected during the burning season. He asks for the Town Council to seriously consider the living conditions of residents in his estate.
