VOYEUR GETS JAIL FOR SHARING HIDDEN VIDEOS OF GIRLS ON LOCAL SEX FORUMS

Dear A.S.S. Editor

A former sales engineer was sentenced to six months' jail after pleading guilty to possessing 280 obscene films for distribution at his home in Whampoa Drive. Joel Chew Weichen, 27, was part of an online group that distributed voyeuristic videos taken with hidden cameras.

In November 2016, a police report was lodged after films of schoolgirls relieving themselves or trying on clothes in changing rooms, as well as other obscene videos, were circulated on sex-themed online discussion site Sammyboy Forum. Initially a member of the Sammyboy Forum, Chew later joined 'SG Horizon Club' and 'LittleSG', which were Google groups that allow people to share and download obscene films of Singaporeans that were recorded here.

The prosecution said many of these were filmed with hidden cameras placed in various places, including toilets in cafes such as Starbucks and McDonald's, schools, offices, bathrooms, changing rooms of popular fashion outlets like Cotton On, and bathroom showers in private homes.

SG Horizon Club was set up by 46-year-old Ali V.P. Mohamed in late 2016. Those who wanted to access the portal had to seek his approval. Chew was among first among five to plead guilty to possessing obscene films. The cases of four others, Ali V.P. Mohamed, fund accountant Shaun Lee, 28; digital marketing specialist Clarence Tang Jia Ming, 25; and customer service officer Ong Yi Jie, alias Kenneth, 27 - are pending.

Chew, whose sentence was backdated to Aug 31, 2017, said he was remorseful and voluntarily stayed in remand.
