Dear A.S.S. Editor
In news just in, two more Singaporeans have been arrested under the Internal Security Act (ISA) for terror related activities. This was announced by the MHA, which also indicated the two arrested was a man and a woman.
Imran Kassim, 34, was issued with an Order of Detention for intending to undertake armed violence overseas, while Shakirah Begam Abdul Wahab, 23, was issued with a Restriction Order for initiating and maintaining contact with foreign terrorist fighters. MHA stated that Imran had been radicalised by the violent propaganda of the IS, and he had tried to make his way to Syria twice to join in the fighting, but failed each time. Imran also admitted that he was prepared to attack SAF personnel deployed in the global coalition to fight IS, or hold them hostages to demand ransom from the Singapore Government.
Shakirah, on the other hand, had initiated contact online with various IS foreign fighters operating in the conflict zone, after learning of their activities from mainstream media reports and online sources. MHA stated that Shakirah did so mainly because she enjoyed their attention, and not because she had been deeply radicalised by the violent propaganda of IS.
