An Alfa Romeo sports car smashed into the rear of a standard pick up lorry in Tuas yesterday at 4.25AM. The impact sent the lorry whirling and flipped it over, causing it to crash onto its side.
The Alfa Romeo windscreen lay in pieces while the driver's safety air bags had been deployed. However, the driver was nowhere to be seen. It is believed that the driver had fled immediately after the accident.
One of the witnesses recounted that he had stopped to inspect the damage and heard the voices of men coming from inside the lorry. He reacted quickly and pulled out 3 foreign workers out of the totalled lorry.
The witness added that the men refused to be admitted to hospital and claimed that their injuries were not severe. 2 of the 3 men rejected a ride to a nearby hospital by the attending ambulance and paramedics.
