Dear A.S.S. Editor
For the first time in a decade, Singapore had its risk level for terrorism and political violence raised from "Negligible" to "Low". Philippines and Indonesia had their threat level to "High", while our nearest neighbours Malaysia is in the "Medium" region.
While it is still good that Singapore are not placed in the high or medium category, it is important that we see our neighbours have the potential to have terrorism or political violence erupt on their shores. This will definitely impact on Singapore too.
So, while we are always certain that Singapore will be safe, it pays to have ourselves ready and primed to act. The authorities have gone on about being ready when such things occur, even had gone through many exercises and simulations to prepare for this. But, when the actual threat arrives, how will they react? Are we all really ready? Remember the Little India riot? We were ready then too, but it did go out of hand at first.
We certainly don't want to see a situation where on paper we are ready, but are we really ready when it comes time to act?
