SINGAPORE HERO HELPED SAVE BADLY INJURED YISHUN SLASHING VICTIM

We previously reported about the slashing of a young 21 year old man at Block 145 Yishun Street 11. The victim was badly slashed and injured, but was conveyed conscious to the nearby Khoo Teck Puat Hospital.

A gym trainer, Khai, who was the first to respond to the scene and offer life saving first aid to the victim, shared more details on what happened that night.

According to Khai, at about 7.45AM that day, he heard a commotion at the bottom of his block and went down to take a look. To his horror, he saw an Indian youth lying down on the floor bleeding very badly. The injuries on the man were so bad, he could see the bone.

When Khai first approached him, the man was semi-conscious. As Khai is first aid trained, he immediately looked for something to stop the bleeding. As he did so, more passersby came along, with one lady passing him a towel. He used the towel to stop the bleeding and elevate his injured leg.

All this while, the victim was screaming in pain and complaining that he was thirsty. Khai did not offer the victim any water because one of the rules in first aid response is not to aggravate the situation by giving water to the victim.

The ambulance arrived 20 minutes later to take the man to hospital.

Thumbs up to this hero!
