SIA TO SERVE FAVOURITE LOCAL DISH ON BOARD, BUT NOT ALL TO ECONOMY CLASS PASSENGERS

Dear A.S.S. Editor

It has taken too long, but our national carrier, SIA, is finally serving Singapore's favourite local dishes on board their planes. From July onwards, all SIA flights will have chicken rice and nasi lemak, among other dishes, on their menu. This will be a good way for local Singaporeans to eat a familiar favourite on board, while introducing visitors to Singapore's local dish.

This change in menu is part of SIA's 70th anniversary celebrations, and also to celebrate the Singapore Food Festival, in conjunction with the Singapore Tourism Board (STB). The two dish were chosen in a poll that actually meant something, chosen by SIA's customer base online. However, only passengers in the Suite Class, First Class and Business Class will get to enjoy Chicken Rice, Nasi Lemak, Kway Teow Fishball Soup, Chicken & Prawn Laksa and Peranakan Hokkien Mee. Those in economy class only get to enjoy Char Siew Rice and Fried Carrot Cake.

SIA did not say why not all favourite local dishes are made available to all passengers on their planes.
