The Singapore Democratic Party (SDP) had fired back at the MOM its Minister, Josephine Teo, for rejecting the SDP’s application for the cancellation of the Correction Directions. In their strongly worded Facebook post, SDP said that the MOM has failed to provide any grounds for its decision, and their reply simply stated that SDP's application does not provide sufficient grounds for the cancellation of the Correction Directions.
SDP said they found the MOM's reply disturbing, as SDP had submitted a detailed account which includes analyzing MOM’s own statistics, as the reasons for the statements in SDP's posts. They also countered that Minister Teo, who had the backing of her entire Ministry and their officials, and two full days with which to substantiate their Correction Directions, had failed to do so, and this was indicative of the lack of leadership qualities in the PAP's 4G Leadership.
To drive home their point of Minister Teo being a useless leader, SDP wrote that the reply “Minister has therefore decided to refuse your Application” is not an answer, but a cop-out. SDP further commented that The PAP hurls accusations against its opponents but refuses to substantiate its arguments with official data when rebutted. This is hardly the kind of leadership Singaporeans should expect or deserve. It is an unfortunate but very real comment about the caliber of the PAP’s 4G leaders.
Using the law to allege the SDP as posting “false statements of fact” and then refusing to back-up its allegation with data when challenged is clear demonstration of how far Singapore’s political standards have deteriorated.
