SCAM ALERT: HACKED FACEBOOK PROFILES ASK FRIENDS TO TRANSFER MONIES THROUGH INTERNET BANKING

Singapore Facebook user Sherry Ong received Facebook private messages from a personal friend who sought help to with cash flow problem with promise to return the funds at a later time. However, Sherry found the request suspicious and proceeded to ask a few questions to verify the authenticity of the person behind her friend's Facebook profile. She was right. It turned out that her friend's account was breached.

It is not known whether Sherry has made a police report over the matter.

"WARNING!! Facebook account of a friend of mine has been hacked, i was being messaged and asked to help to e-transfer money to posb account. Altho he's a close friend of mine, but i still asked a few question to verify his identity but he failed to answer correctly. And I also called him in person to verify which he said he didn't talk to me at all. Friends out there please be extra careful when you're ask to help with money, no matter how close you are with them, just call them in person to speak in detail if you want to help. These hacker usually find contacts from your chatbox to find close friend. So check ur chatbox frequently to avoid unwanted scam."
