REVIEW OF LINDEN FURNELL'S GIG AT TIMBRE'S BARBERSHOP

Linden Furnell is no stranger to the musical theatre scene in Singapore. The Australian had studied in La Salle, worked in various local productions such as A Singaporean in Paris, Next to Normal, and City Gym, and picked up a decent amount of Singlish to pass him off as a local.

This gig at Timbre’s Barbershop will be the last one in Singapore that he will be having for a while as he prepares to tour as a cast member of Kink Boots for about a year and a half.

With a solid fanbase in Singapore, the bar was already almost packed before the show even began. Linden released an EP last year and performed at the same location to mark his album’s debut. Collected, pensive, and occasionally energetic, Linden’s polished acoustic vocals has a certain flair that cannot be missed. He’ll also find ways to reach out to audience members and start some casual banter, like complimenting a girl’s hair and inviting someone to harmonise with him of the cuff.

The concert sees Linden covering various pop songs from the likes of Marvin Gaye to Sam Smith. His second set then sees a full piece band consisting of Aynsley Green, Jase Sng, Aaron Lee, and Danny Loong performing beside him as he sings the lyrics of his original compositions.
