A 28 year old man, who was a a Sergeant with the Singapore Police Force, died on Sunday night of gunshot wounds to his head, the Police have confirmed on Monday. The 28 year old police sergeant was found with gunshot wounds to his head at Yishun North Neighbourhood Police Centre (NPC).
In the press release, the police said the officer arrived at work at 7:30pm on Sunday, and drew his service revolver from the armory, as per the normal practice. However, the officer was later found alone at the rest area of the NPC at around 9:30pm, with his service pistol found beside him. He was taken unconscious to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries at 10:26pm.
Police do not suspect foul play, although they have classified the case as unnatural death. The officer's death marked the third death in a space of one year own weapons to being used to end the officers' life. In all three cases, police did not suspect foul play, though they have stopped short of labeling the deaths as suicide.
