Dear A.S.S. Editor
No surprises that Minister for Culture, Community and Youth Ms Grace Fu have waded in to the Football Association of Singapore's (FAS) presidential election, which is supposed to take place next month. Two rival cams have already thrown their names into the hat, and the two camps have been trading barbs ever since the election dates were announced.
The government takes a very hands-on approach when it comes to FAS. In fact, preciously, all FAS presidents were specially appointed by the government, and not elected like they will do this year. As usual, government wants control over everything. Minister Fu said that the focus in the elections would be to improve Singapore's no 1 sport. This election is supposed to be all about football, making it a priority, and not about who gets the power to run the sports body.
So rich, coming from the Minister. After all, during the General elections, didn't you all promise that this is all about making Singaporean's life better? So, after you win, how did you make Singaporeans life better? By increasing almost everything, like water, S&CC, transport fares? Talk is cheap.
