MBS WILL NOT HONOR LOW PRICE ROOMS DUE TO WEBSITE GLITCH

Several customers who booked rooms at Marina Bay Sands (MBS) for bargain low prices at $70 a night were left outraged after the hotel emailed them and told them they would instead have to pay over $450 for them, with a $100 credit off their final bill.

The customers had found the deal on the MBS website itself. Several of the customers are now considering changing their booking plans as a result of the way MBS has tried to force its new prices on them.

An MBS spokesman said the room rate error "arose in connection with a promotion for stays ending March 31, 2017". "Only guests who booked through this promotional page and planned to arrive on 31 March were affected."

The spokesperson said that MBS is investigating the cause of the error and apologizes for the inconvenience, but added that MBS' terms and conditions state that the hotel has the right to correct the rate or cancel a reservation (after directly contacting the person) if the rate has been incorrectly posted.

The Consumers Association of Singapore (CASE) representative has told reporters that as payment was not made at the time of booking, the hotel has room to dispute the price and validity of its obligations to its customers.
