The Singapore Athletics (SA) was again in the news for the wrong reasons over the weekend, as SEA Games men marathon champion, Soh Rui Yong, lodged a protest against them.

The protest was sent via email to SNOC and Singapore Sports Institute, expressing his unhappiness that 20% of his winnings for clinching the gold medal has to be given to the SA. SNOC has stated that it is compulsory for recipients of the Multi-Million Dollar Awards Programme (MAP) to give 20% of their award money to their national sports association.

Soh contested that the SA, with their infighting, poor management and lack of support are reasons enough not to share his winnings with them, as he won in spite of these problems, not because of any help he received.
