Jurong Junior College will be merged and renamed as Pioneer Junior College.
JJC is the 9th JC established in Singapore in 1982 and known to be a school that has a good track record in producing leaders in our society.
JJC alumnus have a variety of background, from Ang Mo Kio MP Ang Hin Kee to Aljunied MP Pritam Singh to Independent activist Han Hui Hui to actor Pornsak to singer Eric Moo.
It is one of the five JCs in Singapore that offers the Chinese Language Elective Programme, which was initiated by one of our former prime ministers.
JJC has also undergone renovations with a new synthetic field and facilities such as "flying fox".
According to MOE, it was chosen despite it's integrated program etc... jjc was chosen (to be merged) because of its location.
However, Pioneer JC is not located at Pioneer but located at Choa Chu Kang.
Do they expect children from Pioneer, Boon Lay, Jurong, Clementi etc to travel to CCK?
Or is it because they may not wish to produce more people like those mentioned above?
When Han Hui Hui was studying in JJC, her principal was Koh Yong Chiah (four weeks jail for an affair with a vendor) and her lecturer was Chua Ren Cheng (three months jail for sex with an underage prostitute)
