20 year-old Stephen Albert took a taxi and was so drunk, he went to sleep in a taxi driver's car. When the taxi driver called the police to help him wake him up, he turned violent and spat at and racially abused a police officer who arrested him!

He was fined $3,000 for hurling obscenities at the officer and jailed 2 weeks. He could have been jailed up to 6 weeks and fined for his offences.

The 20 year-old student had boarded the taxi at St James Power Station on 31 July last year at about 4.30AM and told the taxi driver to drive to Toa Payoh. When the driver arrived at Toa Payoh, the drunken student had already fallen asleep, so the driver called the police for assistance.

When police officers arrived and woke him up, he hurled vulgarities when they asked for his IC. He gave his address only after he was warned. The driver agreed to send the man to his address at Trellis Towers in Lorong 1 Toa Payoh with the policemen following to ensure the safety of the driver and the drunk passenger.

After alighting at Trellis Towers, the Indonesian again went on a tirade against the police officer, despite being warned, and was arrested.

He spat on the officer twice after he was handcuffed.
