As a Singaporean,It is frustrated to see that the government is overpaying the president.
Every year, $1.54 million is paid to the president from the taxpayer money. Lee Kuan Yew has made a serious mistake by overpaying the President.
It is time that we citizen want the government to reduce it to a more decent amount.
I suggest paying the president $100,000 per year is more than enough considering that the president age is 60 years and above and most are already multi millionaire. As such,he/she simply does not need $1.54 million per year. The money saved from the president salary could then be used on the needy and low income group in our society.
Since Halimah Yacob's campaign slogan is 'Do Good, Do Together', could she just take $100,000 as salary and donate the rest to charity.
What do you think?
