Chan Chun Sing talks a good book of the government being prepared to pay the political price over changes to elected presidency as if a general is telling his solders to pay the ultimate price for victory. He's an ex general after all. But if it goes pear shaped, he himself like most generals during wartime won't be paying the price would he? At worst it is falling sideways into another tenure.
Put it this way, it is strange for me to hear the government being prepared to pay the political price as if it is some kind of mano a mano piece of courage. Yet this same government don't even have the political courage to face up to a president that may not be to its liking, And mind you, even Tan Cheng Bock is pretty much a lameduck. One would think a bit of backbone will be helpful.
Political language is designed to make obfuscation clear as the blue sky, bull shit smell like roses.
