I read news that the police open fired on a car that tried to crash through one of the road blocks near the Shangri-La Hotel. By opening fire, they killed 1 person and detained another 2.
If it was a road block, why did the police still have to use deadly force on the car occupants? Isn't there a standard procedure of chasing the car or boxing in the vehicle? Or at most, why don't the police shoot the tyres to immobilise the vehicle? Or shouldn't there be road spikes on the ready to stop any such vehicles?
Why the need to riddle the car with bullets and take people's life? Is this an overkill reaction to a car crashing your road block? Hopefully the full report will give us a clearer picture of what happened.
