Dear Cathay Cineleisure,
I refer to your response on All Singapore Stuff maintaining your position on Pink Dot.
I would like to start off with mentioning that my purpose for writing this has anything to do with discriminating against LGBTQs or whatsoever. Rather, it is on the idea of equality which is the grounds for your support of the movement.
Since you mentioned on the topic of equality, I have a challenge for you. That is to either pay all of your staff from the CEO down the wages of your cleaner or to pay your staff from the cleaner all the way up the wages of the CEO. Do you think that this is possible?
That is my point. Does doing something for equality's sake mean that it is necessarily moral or fair? If that is so, everyone's limbs to be amputated for equality's sake. Or for females to be subjected to caning for the same offences their male counterparts commit?
Unfortunately that is the same with the LGBT question. Marital and sexual equality at what cost? The only reason why there is no controversy on the legitimacy of a monogamous, heterosexual marriage the way that the LGBT question attracts is because a monogamous, heterosexual marriage is what we were made for, the natural order of things. And just like how the violation of this order led to the proliferation of HIV and the trail of broken lives and families caused by births out of wedlock, if ever history teaches us never to violate natural orders in marriage and sexuality through ideolologies and values that do so lest we open another huge can of worms on ourselves and our children.
My plea to you and many others who will read this letter is this. If you want to help those struggling with LGBTQ issues, the solution is never the recognition of such practices as mainstream. It is just like accepting kleptomania, vandalism and drug use as mainstream and acceptable. People facing these problens need our help and rehabilitation. Not the acceptance of something that would run against the natutal order of things. That is why we would never accept kleptomania or drug use or vandalism as mainstream.
At the end of the day that is the question we would need to ask ourselves.
