PM Lee Hsien Loong wife now ownself admit that the government made a mistake in recalling Singaporeans back home when they saw the numbers of infected people spiking overseas.
This mistake was further compounded by the fact that the government allowed these returnees to go home with only stay home notices, meaning that those with the virus could potentially go on to infect other members of their households and the entire society at large. Only after some time did they realise this and require returnees to go to hotel quarantine away from their own families.
On her own Facebook page, Ho Ching said that Singapore is an unusual country:
"we call our folks home from abroad when we saw cases spiking overseas.
We are now paying a price for that call, bcos we underestimated the covid and used a sars lens.
We did take the precaution of home quarantine notices for returnees. And only later did we require returnees to go hotel quarantine away from their own families.
This means seepages of infection into our broader community."
This is a hard truth from the Prime Minister's own wife. But it remains to be seen if the 4G leaders themselves will so readily admit their own mistakes and pay the price for it at the next general elections.
