Coldplay singer Chris Martin delighted the crowd at Coldplay's Singapore concert yesterday by picking up an LGBTQ+ community rainbow flag from a member of the audience and carrying it during his performance.
While singing Viva La Vida in front of the 50,000+ audience members on the first day of Coldplay's Singapore tour, the singer spotted the flag and walked right up to the audience member, giving him his white towel in exchange for the rainbow flag. When the audience member handed him the flag, Martin attached the flag to his belt and proceeded to continue his singing.
Viva La Vida is from the band's fourth album of the same name. The lyrics are said to invoke the story of Louis XVI's fall from power during the French Revolution.
This is Coldplay's 4th tour in Singapore. Singaporeans who attended the concert gave the performance raving reviews, with some claiming that this concert far outshone the disappointing LAMC-produced show featuring iconic rock band Guns and Roses' in February. The much anticipated concert by the reunited rock legends was marred by complaints of poor logistics, with customers demanding refunds for the terrible production quality and organization.
