According to lawyer Noor Marican, the Imam who is under police investigation and caused an online firestorm after he allegedly made inflammatory remarks against Christians and Jews has apologised for his words and actions.

The Imam apologised at the Ministry of National Development building this morning (Friday; 31 March 2017) and did so in front of religious council members as well as members of the Indian Muslim association.

Home Affairs and Law Ministry K Shanmugam stated in Parliament that any religious preaching which encourages violences or attempts to pit one religion against the other will not be tolerated in Singapore.

Members of the public have been urged to report any such instances to the authorities instead of posted it online which may cause tensions between different religious groups to get out of hand.
